Brano Djenic, MD, FACS, FASCRS, is a double board-certified and fellowship trained colon and rectal surgeon serving the city of San Antonio. A war refugee from former Yugoslavia, Dr. Djenic grew up in the San Antonio community, where he completed high school, college, and the received his medical education at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. During medical school, he spent time volunteering at numerous shelters and medical mission trips in South Texas as well as across Eastern Europe.
Dr. Djenic completed a residency in general surgery at Maricopa Integrated Health System in Phoenix, Arizona, where he served as chief resident. Dr. Djenic then completed a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at Indiana University, focusing on a broad spectrum of treatments for colorectal and anal disorders using minimally invasive techniques, traditional operations, office-based and outpatient procedures.
He is part of the Texas Colon and Rectal Surgeons team in San Antonio, along with four other colon and rectal surgeons, the Texas Oncology–San Antonio multidisciplinary team, comprised of highly specialized medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, geneticists, gynecologic oncologists, hepatobiliary (liver and pancreas surgeon), thoracic surgeons, and surgical/breast oncologists. He works closely with local gastroenterologists, gynecologists, internists, and primary care providers to provide individualized, evidence-based, and compassionate care to each patient.
As a former surgical patient with a family history of colon cancer, Dr. Djenic prioritizes patient education and autonomy, interpersonal communication, and providing individualized, compassionate care to each of his patients.
In joining Texas Colon & Rectal Specialists, Dr. Djenic looks forward to collaborating with a variety of highly specialized medical professionals, bringing comprehensive cancer care to colorectal patients across San Antonio and surrounding communities.
Dr. Djenic enjoys traveling, playing soccer, attending local sporting events and various outdoor activities with his wife and two kids.
